Information

The Baynes Brothers Fellmongery and Woolscour Company was established on the site in 1898. William Henry Baynes had an earlier butchering business in what was locally known as Baynes’ Paddock on the Norman Creek. The partnership of his sons (formerly with his brothers) in the Graziers’ Butchering Company became one of Queensland most successful exporters of canned and salt meat.
