Beak House was built in 1899, Architect: J. Cowlishaw. It was built as an investment retail family for the Cairncross family. Among its numerous tenants, over the years, were the well-known Ranald Simmonds Photographic Studios (1933-74) and the ‘Black Cat’ Casket Agency (1940s-70s).
