Brisbane General Post Office was built in 1871-79, Architect: F.D.G. Stanley (1877-79 section). The Brisbane G.P.O. was constructed in two sections. The northern wing was built 1871-72 by John Petrie. Five years later, the clock tower and southern wing was added. The first ANZAC Day parade, in 1916, had the G.P.O. as its saluting dias.
