Information

This land was used for the quarrying of clay and shale for Brittain Bricks, which had started in 1887 as an Ipswich-based brick-making business, and then moved to Darra 20 years later after the clay supply ran out at their first quarry. Boral took the business over in 1969 and expanded it further. The former quarry site is now home to the Sandringham Estate, Westlake.
