Brookfield Shows were run by the Brookfield, Pullen Vale and Moggill Farmers’ Dairymen’s and Fruitgrowers’ Association from 1910 to 1926. A very successful Sports Day, followed by a Social and Dance, was held in June 1919 to raise urgently needed funds. The great variety of events included horse and cycling trials. The Show was abandoned that year, due to the influenza epidemic. Brookfield Country Fair and Horse Shows from 1954 to 1956 preceded the revival of the Brookfield Show in 1957. The one-day event evolved to two days in 1970 and the present three days in 1980, largely to accommodate horse events. The Brookfield Show is no longer an agricultural show, but remains the major event of the year for the Show Society, and attracts a large number of visitors from the broader community.
