Information

This camp, set up by the Australian Army in 1942, was broken into company areas, and the troops were housed in wooden huts, which were arranged around central headquarters and a parade ground. There were also quartermaster stores and recreation facilities, and the set-up indicates the permanency of the site for the duration of World War II. The No.1 Staging Camp would have serviced a large number of men during the war.
