Information

Canada Cycle & Motor Agency Ltd was built in 1909, Architect: R. Gailey jnr. It was the the two-storey C.C. & M. A. Showroom,, with 3 storeys added in 1925. In 1934, it was bought by the Queensland Primary Producers Co-operative Association and became ‘Primac House’. In 1942, it was requisitioned by Allied forces, with the top floor housing the Brisbane ‘PX’ store for the U.S. army. On Thanksgiving Day (27 November 1942), it became the focus of riots between Military Police and Australians that became known as the ‘Batttle of Brisbane’. It is important as site of one of the most important events in wartime Brisbane.
