Information

Built circa 1903, as a row of five shops placed under a central pediment. As consumer confidence boomed after Federation in 1901, the then owners of the neighbouring Clarence Corner Hotel, John and Winifred Charlton decided to have a row of shops constucted in what had become the heart of the Woolllonngabba retail precinct. As is normal, each shop has had a variety of leasees or owners over the years. Their use as a drapers, tobacconist, fruiterers and hairdressers, etc reflect the changing shopping needs of the local community.
