Information

The first Anglican church was built for the farming district in 1889. As the congregation grew, a timber church hall and a rectory were built on the this church land adjoining the 1889 church, in Cork Street. This precinct became the centre ofChurch of England worship in the local area. After World War I, housing estates began to alter the character of Yeronga so that it became an outer Brisbane suburb. To reflect this change and to meet the needs of the new residents, this brick Christ Church was built and opened in 1923, The new church included a memorial that was dedicated to the Yeronga men who had paid the ultimate sacrifice in the recent Great War of 1914-18. This church and hall and recorty continue to provided religious and community services to the local residents.
