Information

Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Building was built in 1930-31, Architects: Hennessey, Hennessey & Co. Colonial Mutual Life Assurance occuppied its building from 1931 to 1983. It had an arcade of shops and rented offices on the upper floors. It was then bought by the owners of The Courier Mail, when it underwent a two-year refit and restoration. It reopened in 1985 as ‘Newspaper House’ and it entered the public consciousness via the newspaper’s role in the vital Fitzgerald Enquiry (1987-89). In 1994, it was remodelled to be become ‘The Manor House’ apartments.
