Information

The second Bretheren church to be built on the southside, it was completed just prior to the outbreak of WWII. Founded in Germany in l723, this protestant movement soon spread to the U.S.A and then the British Empire. It only recognises the New Testament of the Bible. The growth of its congregation during the 1930s, led the Christian Brethren Assembly to decide to build another church at Coorparoo. Volunteer labour was used in its construction and this church was labelled a Gospel Chapel to distinguish it from the earlier (1934), nearby Meeting Rooms. The Bretheren favour a simple and basic church design, as can be seen here.
