Information

In May 1928 John Davis and his wife and five children came to Sunnybank from Chinchilla. The Davis family lived in Mains Road where WD & HO Wills were established (now Macgregor Park). After a few years the Davis family moved to the corner of Mains and McCullough Streets where the Sunnybank Hotel now stands. On this 10 acre allotment they had fruit trees and grew small crops. The Davis family built a tennis court which was very popular with the local youth. Later the Davis family sold all but 2 acres of this land and moved to live in Moorooka. In 1947, Bob, the fifth child of the Davis family, married Verna and they built their home on the 2 acres. They cleared the land and grew small crops and fruit trees. The carrier would call twice a week to take produce to the Brisbane Markets.
