Information

In 1925 the first public telephone in Sunnybank was installed in the non-official Post Office in Dixon Street shop. All postal and banking tasks were performed at the rail station by rail staff until 1 November 1919 when these services were moved to the small shop at 37 Dixon Street, opposite the railway station. It was owned by Mr Richard Boorman. The first butcher shop at 41 Dixon Street – Shearer and Osborne were the first butchers. At 41 Dixon Street a boot repair shop was built and occupied by Mr Percy Clark. In the 1920s Harry Smith took over the Post Office and later Mr & Mrs Potten.
