Information

Graceville Picture Gardens opened as open air venue in 1921. In the 1930s with the arrival of ‘talkies’ the theatre was roofed over and enclosed, while the interior was totally re-lined with a floor installed and seating renovated. In 1953 the cinema was once again rebuilt and renamed The Regal to coincide with the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. In February 1961 the theatre was equipped with a spacious stage and new public address system so the venue was suitable for hire to schools and the community.
