Information

Andrew Hamilton bought a 20 acre block and built his vehicle building workshop and forge. Andrew and Margaret Hamilton arrived in Queensland in December 1866 and settled in Brisbane Town moving to the present site of Chermside in about 1867. Hamilton employed a rather eccentric blacksmith in the first smithy in Downfall Creek which he named the ‘Fivemiletown Forge’ .
