The Queensland Lawn Tennis Association purchased the site in 1915, and the courts were developed from 1910 to 1930. Three Davis Cup finals were played there, in 1958, 1962, and 1967. The first tournament of the Australian Open occurred at the site in 1969. It was also a place of concerts for internationally-renown rock artists, such Elton John, Johnny Cash, and the Rolling Stones.
