Information

William Lockwood established a printing press in Wynnum in 1914, working from a verandah on his home before moving to 96 Tingal Road during the following year. It was from here that he ran the Moreton Bay Printing Works and eventually started the Wynnum Herald newspaper, the first edition of which appeared in January 1946. The circulation grew from 3,000 to 6,000 within six months. Lockwood died in 1963 and his sons took over the running of the Herald until it was purchased by the Courier-Mail in 1970.
