Information

Built 1915, the architect was Hall and Dods. Completed soon after the outbreak of WWI, this Catholic convent building was built in the Victorian style, with large verandahs to catch the sea breezes. It was the home of the Sisters of Mercy Order of nuns, who provided teaching staff for the local convent schools. As well, Mt Carmel Convent was used as a rest or holiday home for this Order.
