Information

Important Aboriginal canoe and swimming crossing point, and sub-camp of Norman Creek, marking the creek junction with Brisbane River. Aboriginals frequently crossed here for turtle-hunting and dances at New Farm. The area once had extensive middens. In 1845, a timber-getter who was mining the middens for lime-burning (for mortar) was killed by Aboriginals here.
