Information

Built 1942. In 1949, Moorooka Parish Catholic priest Fr. Flannaghan bought the Harper farm (5 acres) at Acacia Ridge and relocated there an ex-R.A.A.F. hut from Archerfield airfield. In 1950, the hut was converted into the Church of Our Lady of Fatima, with the farmhouse as its presbytery. Two more WWII huts were bought and moved onsite so Our Lady of Fatima School could open in 1954. It had two teachers drawn from the Order of St Joseph. A brick church was built in 1966 and the R.A.A.F. hut became the chutch hall. The Parish, of the same name was declared in 1967. A new school was built in 1970 to open in 1971, with the first lay teacher. Additions to the school were built in 1972, 1974, 1975 and 1987. The farmhouse is used for Meals on Wheels.
