Information

Shamrock Hotel was built in 1864, Architect: J. Cowlishaw. It was renamed the Port Office Hotel in 1901. In 1955, it was ‘modernised’ by enclosing verandahs and removing all iron laticework, brick chimneys and canopy awnings. This was the fate om most of the City’s corner hotels. In the 1990s, the varandahs were reopend and copies of the latticework and awnings were restored.
