Spiritualist socities began in 1840s, A Victorian era religion, it espoused women’s sufferage, temperance and no capital punishment. In 1922, the foundation stone was laid for Brisbane’s first Spiritualist Church on the north-side. It opened in 1929. This second church was built soon after to serve the Spiritualist community across the river. This is one of only two Brisbane Spiriualist Churches.
