Information

This architect-designed, single-storied church was built to replace earlier, temporary church accommodation. As the first permanent Church of England in the area, it played an important spiritual and cultural role within the community. A two-storied Sunday School Hall was built next-door in 1937. With post-war migration and the ‘baby boom’ of the 1950s, a larger St Stephen’s Church was built in 1958. The 1922 church building was relocated onsite to become the Parish Youth Centre.
