Information

Built 1928. Constructed on donated land and using labour and funds drawn from the farming community, this opened as the Coopers Plains United Protestant Church in 1928. But because of its close proximity, within a short walking distance, to Coopers Plains Railway Station, it became known as the Station United Protestant Church. As it was a Protestant place of worship, the United Protestant congregation also allowed the local Anglicans and Methodists to hold their services in this Church. It became St Lukes’ Anglican Church in 1959. Reflecting the changes brought to the district by postwar migration, it became the St Mary and St Joseph’s Coptic Orthodox Church in 1986.
