Information

The inaugural meeting of the Sunnybank Bowls Club was held on Sunday, 4 December 1952. The Club started with a makeshift army tent that acted as the first clubhouse in 1954. The 18 acres area of land bounded by Turton, Gager, Lister and Boorman Streets was held by two trustees on behalf of the government. On 22 July 1954, the government granted the Club a thirty year lease of the land. The Club has two bowling greens and a large dining-recreational hall. The club won its first Metropolitan Division I Pennants Competition in 1963. Prior to its own hall being constructed near-by, the RSL Sub-Branch held their meetings at the Bowls Club in the late 1950s.
