Information

Built 1936. Local fundraising began in 1932 to pay the £400 cost for a Methodist church. Constructed at the district’s major Beenleigh/Mains Rd intersection, this Church occupied a prominent location. The recently-formed Moorooka Methodist Circuit opened this Church in November 1936. It became a Uniting Church in 1977, after the amalgamation of the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational churches. In 1979, the Brisbane City Council resumed much of the Church grounds for an intersection upgrade. BCC then took control of the Church and leased it to the (1965) Sunnybank Variety Group. That Group raised the Church and did other renovations that were completed in 1981. It is now the home of the Sunnybank Theatre Group Live Theatre.
