Information

Important regular battleground for Aboriginal groups in disputes over trespass and other matters. Several hundred warriors from diverse tribes would gather at this site for lengthy battles. Old Moppy, the resistance leader of the Lockyer Valley, was severely wounded at Taringa Tournament Grounds c.1837-1839. Dundalli, the northside warrior-leader, was similarly involved in a battle here, in the early 1850s.
