Information

The Thompson Estate began its land sale in c1885. This hall was built two decades later for the local runners and athletics sports club. Physical prowess was encouraged, after Federation (1901) as a national trait. Built in the Carpenter Gothis style, this church-like structure is now the Order of the Eastern Star Hall. The O.E.S. is a masonic charity. This small hall is one of the few remants of Thompson Estate, which was consumed by the suburbs of Annerly and Wooloongabba.
