Turbot House’ was built in 1916, Architect: E.M. Myers. It was constructed for the Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Company, as it was on a site close to the Roma Stret Markets precinct. It was a 5-storey warehouse, with cooling chambers for fruit and vegetables, plus office space on the upper floors. The Co-operative retained it until the Markets moved to Rocklea in 1964. It the became City offices, before being converted into a hotel in the 1990s.
