Information

The vehicular ferry to Montague Road in West End was a joint initiative of local authorities and one of the three vehicular ferries which operated upstream of the city. Gailey donated land for approach road (Ferry Road). It was hailed as Brisbane’s first free ferry service (free during day), and funded primarily by South Brisbane Council. It aurvived the major 1893 flood but the punt transferred to city. It was then replaced by the short lived passenger only ferry .
