Information

Built 1867. West Oxley State School was built on another site. In 1878, it was renamed Sherwood State School . Classrooms were added in 1917 during World War I and in 1936 during the Great Depression. From 1927-33, three acres were bought for a new school site, with the building moved to its current location in 1937.It aquired a pool in 1967, a hall in 2000 and a Prep School in 2007. School enrolments mirror Sherwood’s development, peaking at 1034 pupils in 1959. From the 1960s, numbers slowly declined as families moved to the new, outer suburbs.
