Built 1941. From 1918-21, Wynnum Central Primary School ran a secondary department, as the nearest high school was in South Brisbane. From 1935, the community lobbied for a Wynnum high school. In 1937, the local and state governments agreed to exchange part of Primrose Park for Russell (now Memorial) Park for a school site. After the start of World War II in 1939, a £25600 school was designed. The corner stone was laid on 21 August 1941. This School opened on 2 March 1942, as a Japanese invasion scare enveloped Queensland. The School has buildings named after local lost heritage sites: Imperial and Star Teatres, Pandanus Beach. This was the last major public works completed in Queensland during the War.
