Information

Contractor William Miller constructed this station as part of the state government’s update of fire services for Brisban’e new interwar suburbs. It was strategically located at the corner of School and Ipswich Roads, then two of the major thouroughfares in the area. It was opened on 18 April 1934 by the local member W. Denmead. It was the new, standard design, with the firefighting equipment stored on the ground floor and the fire stationmaster’s residence on the top floor. It closed in 1974 and was converted to a State Emergency Services centre.
