Information

The Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) Studio came from move of ABC radio station 4QR 612 from its city office to the new studio at Toowong in 1957. The ABC TV station ABQ2 went live from Toowong on 2 November 1959. The transmission tower for the ABC was one of the three that marked the skyline of Mount Coot-tha. Trouble about the site being a breast cancer cluster, whether a statistical anomaly or with yet-undetermined causes, lead to the closure of the Toowong site and the relocation of the studios to the South Bank Parklands location in 2013.
