Information
Banoon had been a stopping place on the old South Coast line from 1937. The name “Banoon” is said to be a reference by the early locals to the southernmost branch of Stable Swamp Creek; “Banoon Creek,” a name that fell out of use. Banoon Railway Station was first constructed between 1949 and 1953. Around 1953 the platform at Banoon had been extended and raised. On 4 July 1955 a stationmistress was appointed. The old Banoon station was replaced in redevelopments of the stations on the Gold Coast line at the turn of the new century.
