Information
An important Aboriginal crossing point for the major Aboriginal pathway north to the Sunshine Coast. It traversed the Three Mile Scrub – a tall rainforest that extended to Lutwyche. The area was favoured for fishing and plant foods, and was shown to Governor Bowen on his tour of the new colony (1859). By the 1850s, Bayuba was used as a boundary for policing purposes – i.e. Aborigines were expected to not be south of here after sunset.
