Information
The first Boundary Hotel was built for Scotsman Donald Wilson, on this site in 1864. His grandson John had this hotel built as a replacement in 1884. He retained ownership but transferred the licence to various proprietors until 1922. Then the pub was sold to Thomas Corrigan and the Coorigans retained ownership into the 21st Century. In 1922, Corrigan leased the hotel to the Castlemaine Brewery, at a time when that company was acquiring exclusive access to many Brisbane hotels. Castlemaine XXXX required renovations in the 1930s. The cantilevered open verandahs, rear kitchen and corner doorway were removed so as to modernise its appearance. A Jane Street bedroom wing plus two rear wings were added to increase offered accommodation. The hotel celebrated its sesquicentenary in 2014.
