Information
Clayfield Baptist Church began in 1874 with donation of the land and transferring of the building which had been purchased and used by the Baptists in Nundah since 1859 (originally a Protestant chapel built in 1853). The original chapel became the Sunday School, and a new church was built in 1891. Both the nineteenth century church and chapel buildings were demolished. A brick Sunday School hall, built in 1964, had since become the main Church building. It is common pattern among local Protestant denominational congregations to transfer buildings among locations and usages to save costs in the building program.
