On 14 June 1925 on land in Bage Street, Nundah Archbishop James Duhig laid the foundation stone of the Corpus Christi church designed by the architectural firm of Hennessy, Hennessy & Keesing. The church opened on 21 November 1926. A major feature of the church is the dome, which is clad with flat seamed copper panels and surmounted by a lantern, which in turn is surmounted by a Celtic cross. The overall style is Romanesque and the round arched windows, colonnades and small projecting porches marking the entrances are typical of this style. An interesting feature of the interior is a large artwork in the sanctuary taking up theentire rear wall above the high altar. Entitled ‘The Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament by the Nations’ which was painted in Rome.
