Information
The surveyor John Oxley and his party camped overnight near this spot on 3 December 1823, after landing their boat close to the base. He had named the rise here ‘Green Hills’, and it is now called Mt Ommaney. Oxley climbed Mt Ommaney in the morning after the camp, to examine the surrounding countryside and take compass bearings. He later noted in his report, ‘the view from it more extensive than I anticipated’. Note: The marked location is approximate only.
