Information
The original “spike” penninsular after which Brisbane earned its Aboriginal name (Meanjin). In pre-settlement times, this rainforest and swamp area was renowned for tulipwood bushes, used for spear-making and stunning fish. The area was favoured for hunting pigeons (which ate tulipwood berries), and as a women’s birthing area.
