Information
The electric tram line was extended to this point in 1951. Before that time, Mount Gravatt had not been very well connected to public transport systems. Local residents had to be taken to the Woolloongabba tram terminus (1887) by horse bus, and Logan Road traffic reduced when the Beenleigh railway opened in 1885. Even an extension of the tram line from Greenslopes to Holland Park in 1926 left Mount Gravatt too far from the terminus. This kind of disconnection helped the Mount Gravatt area to retain a rural aspect for much of the 20th century. The last day of tram operations in Brisbane was 13 April 1969.
