Information
Major Corroboree Ground and inter-tribal Camping and meeting place at the flats of Bulimba Creek, for groups from southside Brisbane, Bribie Island, and Moreton Bay. It was especially used in the 1850s-1860s. The last major Corroboree here (1872) saw 300 participants. Residents from this Camp were employed to catch runaway workers, and sometimes tried to rob homesteads during the 1870s. In 1872, a group from here led by King Tommy Minnippi beseiged Kendrick’s Hotel in an attempted robbery, resulting in the mounted police under Constables Sands and Ameis violently dispersing the group.
