The area’s telephone exchange facility in Lister Street was opened in 1950. The communication tower was erected on this site by Telecom in 1987. For many local communities, the revolution of telecommunications, from what became the common household landline phone to the internet-linked mobile devises, changed ways of living, as the instantness in transmission and its diverse content reshaped the imagined space and globe (the concept of the ‘world’ and ‘earth’)
