Information
Built 1885, the architect was Alexander Wilson. Publican Daniel Costigan replaced the 1864 Plough Inn with this two-storey masonary hotel. Numerous interior alterations were made, over the years and in 1922, the pub was extended (Architects: Addison and Son). One of only 5 buildings retained, when South Brisbane’s CBD was cleared, it was severly altered in 1987, losing its fireplace, chimney, with its verandahs enlarged. It was the Plough Inn tavern during EXPO88. In 1991-92, architects Bruce Buchanan’s conservation plan saw a new interior and the verandahs restored. It is also known as the Plough Inn Hotel.
