Brisbane Normal School: established in 1860, the Normal School was the state-run model for teacher instruction, establishing the first professional standards for Queensland. It intellectually pivoted from disciplining mental faculties like memory in 1875 to “learning by doing” in 1905, making the child the center of the learning process.
