Built 1888, the architect was John B. Nicholson. Solicitor Phillip Hardgrave saw the need for a local public hall. The South Brisbane Public Hall, later renamed The Boggo Road Theatre was a venue for live theatre, music recitals, public lectures and balls. Renamed Princess Theatre, in the 1890s, to show vaudeville. The Brisbane’s oldest surving live theatre. Later, it became a clothing factory, Wooloongabba’s silent films cinema and amateur drama theatre. In WWII, an US Army entertainment unit used it as offices. Postwar, it was commercial offices. In 1986, it was leased to TN Theatre Company and used for Toadshow productions.
