Information
In 1942 a series of engine testing structures were built where the Salisbury Hotel and Mazda car plant now stand. These large brick buildings were under heavy security surveillance during World War II because they were used to test aircraft engines that had been assembled at Archerfield Airport. Before the engine testing structures were disassembled for site development, the structures were used for growing mushrooms.
