Michael Scott Fletcher was Professor of Philosophy from 1923 and Master of King’s College from 1912, at the University of Queensland. After working as the Foundation Master of Wesley College within the University of Sydney, Fletcher took up his professorship, and work in the Workers’ Educational Association. He also served as Chairman of the Education Committee of the Creche and Kindergarten Association.
Testimony from Michael Scott Fletcher’s son, recorded by Helen Gregory, was that the Methodist theologian read and discussed the works of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung and Alfred Adler, during the years of World War I and after. How Fletcher worked together, or not, his theological beliefs and philosophic psychology requires further research. His theological interest, from his B.D. and D.D. degrees, was in studies of Hellenism and Jewish non-canonical literature and philosophy. Further research is required.
