Information

This tram stop was named the Belmont Tram Terminus, although it was actually in the suburb of Carina (which was originally part of the Belmont Shire). In 1914 the Belmont Council built a tramway from the Bulimba Creek to Norman Park, via Carina and Seven Hills, in the hope that this would stimulate suburban development. That tramway was closed in 1926, shortly after the Belmont Shire was amalgamated into the newly-formed Brisbane City Council. The Brisbane tram network was extended along Old Cleveland Road from Camp Hill to Mayfield Road in July 1948. The last day of tram operations in Brisbane was 13 April 1969.
